As I've told you, we have 48 different Hybrid Tea Rose bushes in our yard this year. I don't know how many of them are pink (or shades of pink)--but there are ALOT. Today I will share 8 of our pink ones (ones that I have not shown in other previous posts). Above is one named PINK PROMISE, one of my fav's. Below are more. Do you have a favorite? ReplyDeleteThis will not sound right but do they make roses nowadays that do not attract aphids?
ReplyDeleteThat was the only reason I stopped growing them. Aphids. I hated to use soap but wouldn't use chemicals. It was just too much work to keep them pest free.
But I went out and bought another single rose recently to make up for one that died. The only one I have had for years. Aphids wouldn't touch it. I am hoping this new one will be aphid free as well.

ReplyDeleteOh, so beautiful, Betsy! My two favorites (I can't settle on just one!) are Pink Promise and Sheer Magic.
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful - but the Chicago peace is my favorite! Do you and George plant these together - or is this George's "territory"? LOL!
ReplyDeleteBig Michigan hugs to you!
Your yard must smell delightful with all the wonderful roses you have. I have not seen so many beauties all in one yard. You and George could have your own garden show.
ReplyDeleteNow if you could just send us the smell. Your house must smell wonderful with cut flowerw.

Betsy that First Prize is a beauty. I can see why it would be called that. Love your pinks!!!
ReplyDeleteOver and over and over I looked at your beautiful photos of the pink roses and I cannot decide on a favorite! I even closed my eyes and drew a deep breath trying to recall the scent of some gorgeous roses I've had over the years! My most memorable rose scent was from a rose in my uncle's garden in Germany. I've not enjoyed that beautiful fragrance in any other rose here in Canada. And, yes, I do stop and smell the roses!! Thanks for sharing all your lovely pinks!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty in Pink Betsy!!!

ReplyDeleteOh, Betsy. These are so pretty....that's just incredible that you have so many roses....I bet it smells like heaven in your backyard! I am just drooling!LOL I always have been partial to Chicago Peace as a pink rose, but your Sheer Magic is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are so terrific, I can just about smell the roses with my eyes, ha! My favorites: Chicago Peace, Sheer Magic and Perfume Delight. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI love those peace roses. We had a fragrant sunset-colored beauty in the backyard of the first house we moved into when I was a toddler. My mother didn't know what kind it was, but she always called it the "St. James Peace Rose", because our church, St. James Methodist, was just across the street, and the house had been the minister's residence previously.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful! I love them all but Sheer Magic is my favorite. I would love to see a photo of this section of your yard.
ReplyDeleteMy Alaska post, not a camper, I was one of the teachers. I'm a former Camp Director.
Hugs,
Judy
I'll bet your garden smells like heaven! I love the Perfume Delight rose. What a striking shade of pink!
ReplyDeleteI'm driving the kids to Grammy's, so I won't be checking in for a few days. Have a great week, Betsy!
Adrienne
I LOVE roses but very few do well here. Our winters are cold. Good thing you take such nice photos so I can enjoy them. Now if I could only take in the aroma. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks for sharing! Had neighbors when I was a kid with gorgeous tea roses. As a backyard hedge, we have beautiful but practically wild yellow roses.
ReplyDeleteThey are all gorgeous! I bet your yard smells heavenly. xoxo
ReplyDeleteTo Abe, I've found here in Michigan, with our long cold winters, that the old Heirloom roses, do best and some seem to be aphid free. The hybrids have had some resistance bred out of them to increase bloom time, color, etc. The heirlooms have various bloom times, not as long, but intense fragrance and quite hardy. Try one!
ReplyDeleteLovely roses Betsy!
awwww, Betsy, your roses are gorgeous! I love all of 'em!
ReplyDeleteHubby and I started a rose garden a few years ago, in memory of my mother-in-law, we planted 13 roses but between the japanese beetles and deer, they didn't make it. can't believe that deer eat roses too. :(
Hi Betsy,
ReplyDeleteThe roses are beautiful and I'm sure the smell is out of this world. I thought I had a favorite selected & then I viewed the next rose and so on. I just couldn't decide. Pink is my favorite color so I enjoyed them all. Thanks for sharing.
Hellooooo Betsy! Your roses are outstanding. The dew on them makes me almost get a little chill!
ReplyDeleteWell, my Veteran's Honor rose has actually sprouted (I thought it croaked from the winter), but I'm not sure if it is the root stock or still the VH. Guess I'll know when I get my first rose! Have a great week. xx-C
oh they are all so lovely, I couldn't choose a favorite, I'll take 'em all :)
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't mean knock out roses, but the roses from the earlier centuries gone by, the originals before hybridizing. They are wonderful. I've raised many in the past from David Austin in England, some dating as early as 1500's. Damask types, which the oils are used to make perfumes, are the best. I too love hybrid tea roses and have several varieties, some do better here than others, but heirlooms, especially the climbers are the most hardy for those that don't have time to doctor them as much ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh Betsy! How can one choose a favorite when it comes to pink roses!
ReplyDeleteAll are delightful...mmmmm...I can smell them from here!!!
Today was a great day for me!! hugs
Love the Chicago Peace and the Sheer Magic! Beautiful! I think that pink roses are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteLove the beautiful roses, Betsy. Japanese beetles plague them here so we only have a few making your post even more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteDonna
They are all lovely, Betsy. Your yard must smell like heaven with all the flowers that you have there.
