Our Lilies 2009
Today I'll share some of the lilies in our yard right now. There will be more to come, but this is a beginning. We have names for some of them ---but not all. (Sorry Suzanne!!! Tee hee).. But--even without names, they are all so pretty and smell almost (not quite but almost) as good as our Roses. Above is one named Freedom's Glow. There are more below. Be sure and click on them to make them larger.
One named Madonna; This is a very unusual lily--and very pretty. It almost looks like linen.
These lilies are named Red Twinkle. They are so pretty.
A close-up of Red Twinkle
This lily is named Regale. Compare it with Madonna above.
More lilies named Regale; I call these Easter Lilies since they look so much like the lilies we put in church on Easter to honor or memorialize someone.
I love seeing (and smelling) the lilies in large groups. I can sit on our swing on the deck and admire these beauties.
We had several of these in our lamppost flowerbed. This was the first lily that bloomed this year. Since these came in a collection, we don't know what her name is... I call her the Red Beauty.
Another beautiful lily, don't you thnk???? Maybe you could name this one!!!!!
Finally, here is another group of some more of our lilies. Aren't they just gorgeous????? I think there are seven different lilies in our yard right now... I will share more as they bloom.
Have a great Wednesday.
Hugs,
These are all so pretty Betsy. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day today.
ReplyDeleteI especially like Red Twinkle and Madonna! Wonder if Madonna knows there is a lily named after her? The variety in colors really must make your yard cheery!
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty!
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely! I surely do like Red Twinkle, tho' all are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBetsy: What a great show of those beautiful flowers. George is really busy with all these flowers.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful lilies. I loved them all. Red is usually my favorite, but the Madonna lily was certainly eye catching.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful - I am so jealous!! I only have the plain jane orange ones.
ReplyDeleteGood thing the "ditch lilies" a friend gave me can't see this. It would really make them feel inadequate.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful Betsy. As to your comment on my blog....yeah, I've been busy and just haven't been on the computer as much. I try to visit the normal blogs but don't always leave a comment.
ReplyDeleteI keep on getting amazed seeing all the lovely beauties in your garden! Thank you for sharing them with us. It is really a great joy viewing them. Have a wonderful day, Betsy. Hugs and love from Indonesia :)
ReplyDeleteLove these - the Freedom Glow is my favorite!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. We're packing up and hitting the road this afternoon! Pray that we have good driving weather! See ya in 2 days now!! :-)
The yellow lily without a name...I'd call it sunfire...these are beautiful...I love the Madonna one...thanks for sharing since I needed some sunshine on this rainy morning...
ReplyDeleteLove them!!! I planted lots of bulbs back in April, and I have lilies all over the place now! Every morning when I go out to get the papers, I have to stroll by the flowers to see what is newly blooming. Your lilies are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe lilies are wonderful just like all of your flowers!I enjoy looking at them thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteBetsy those are really pretty lilies. That red one is shocking bright in color. Yes they are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty!! Love the Red Twinkle. I think if you have nameless flowers in your yard, you should just call them Suz!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I think you must have one of every color and they are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where you and George find the time to care for all your delightful flowers...
Hugs, Pam
Very beautiful! Looks like you must have a fulltime gardner to take care of your yard.
ReplyDeleteBetsy they are all gorgeous but Red Twinkle wins the prize with me!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Roses or Lilies..........could not decide on the prettier!!
ReplyDeleteBesides roses, lilies are another flower I don't get to see much in the desert. They're so pretty! I love the texture of Madonna.
ReplyDeleteRed Twinkle is my fav. All of them are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI just can't pick a fave, what a beautiful array!!
ReplyDeleteI love the lily pictures. I have some unusual colors here in Michigan but they are quite a bit behind yours! The pictures remind me of the fragrance yet to come...
ReplyDeleteI'm a new blogger and will enjoy your company!
Betsy those lilies are gorgeous. I love the first white one. It does look linen like.
ReplyDeleteYour Lilies are as beautiful as the roses.Names or not the beauty is the same. Thanks for sharing these as well.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,Ruth
Gee you have lots of Lilies. They are so pretty when there are lots of them.
ReplyDeleteI will name the yellow one with pink cheeks--Blush--or maybe just Pink Cheeks. ha! MB
Roses, Lilies and all your pretty landscaping. Your neighbors have got to be the luckiest people in Tennessee.

Beautiful lilies, Betsy. I bet they smell heavenly.
ReplyDeleteI love them all! They're gorgeous!Between the lilies and the roses, your garden must smell so delicious.
ReplyDeleteBTW,Bonita Springs is between Ft.Myers and Naples.
The lilies are gorgeous!!!! Love that one that you want somebody to name. I have a Leedra's Delight Daylily in my yard, think it is mix between the Leprechauns Wealth and Happy Returns. Not sure since nature took care of the mix instead of me. I will post it sometime again this year.
ReplyDeleteI also have the real Easter Lilies in my yard. My mother bought them for me when I had surgery in 1996, and I have moved them everytime I have moved. They are more beautiful this year than ever before.
See ya!
You have so many pretty flowers. That takes alot of work!
ReplyDeleteI on the other hand, tend to wilt or kill every plant/flower I touch.
You and George have so many beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so sharp and vivid that they remind me of the ones in the old gardening magazines.
ReplyDeleteI used to eat day lily buds by battering and frying them. They're quite tasty that way.
Oh my goodness! Not only do you have beautiful roses but you also have gorgeous lilies!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a red lily before, and that red twinkle is awesome.
ReplyDeleteBetsy,
ReplyDeleteEvery one of those lilies are beautiful in their own way! I love red, so I love that red twinkle. How about the one you said to name, "Tropical Splash"? It looks so islandish! :)
Funny you mentioned my dad bringing in the mail. He just did so right before I got on here and saw your comment. It does mean alot to me! I love when he stops by and I love seeing him next door outside tinkering around! :)
Have a great rest of the week!
Tammy
Your lilies are just flattering and beautiful. I only have one and it is old and it is all yellow but a nice deep yellow. I photograph it every year.
ReplyDeleteSo So So pretty!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty flowers, Betsy. I love those Madonna lilies..they do remind one of linen!!
ReplyDeleteYou must have a huge yard to have all these plantings!!
Beautiful!!
This is my first time visiting your blog, Betsy, but I will definitely be back. Anyone who grows so many different varieties of lilies has to be someone very special!
