Who are you--when you are online'????

Here's another one of Brad Paisley's songs that I love. (There are many of them.) The words to his songs are SO neat---and most are TRUE when it comes to our lives and how we live in today's 'crazy' world. Many of his songs are really FUNNY--such as the one listed below. We bought that CD as soon as it came out. There are so many great songs on it, including "Ticks" and "Online." AND---there are tons of other great songs on all of his CD's.

The video is HILARIOUS--so be sure and see it. I'll bet ALL of us know someone who fits the description below ---of being a totally different person 'online.' If you haven't heard the song (or seen the video), check it out!!!! It's GREAT!!!

+++++
"Online" lyrics by Brad Paisley

I work down at the Pizza Pit
And I drive an old Hyundai
I still live with my mom and dad
I'm 5 foot 3 and overweight
I'm a scifi fanatic
A mild asthmatic
And I've never been to second base
But there's whole 'nother me
That you need to see
Go check out MySpace

'Cause online I'm out in Hollywood
I'm 6 foot 5 and I look damn good
I drive a Maserati
I'm a black-belt in karate
And I love a good glass of wine
It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell them I don't want nothing serious
'Cause even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I'm so much cooler online
So much cooler online

When I get home I kiss my mom
And she fixes me a snack
And I head down to my basement bedroom
And fire up my Mac
In real life the only time I've ever even been to L.A
Is when I got the chance with the marching band
To play tuba in the Rose Parade

Online I live in Malibu
I pose for Calvin Klein, I've been in GQ
I'm single and I'm rich
And I've got a set of six pack abs that would blow your mind
It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell them I don't want nothing serious
'Cause even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I'm so much cooler online
So much cooler online

When you got my kind of stats
It's hard to get a date
Let alone a real girlfriend
But I grow another foot and I lose a bunch of weight
Every time I login

Online
I'm out in Hollywood
I'm 6 foot 5 and I look damn good
Even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I'm so much cooler online
Yeah, I'm cooler online
I'm so much cooler online
Yeah, I'm cooler online
Yeah, I'm cooler online
Yeah, I'll see ya online
+++++

The words don't do the song justice...You really need to hear it to appreciate it!!!! Now my question to you: Who are YOU online????? Tee Hee Hee!!!
Hugs,

  1. LOL I love it!!! I am basically the same while online. Allthough I am always happy that people can't see the condition of my house most times. Two teengage boys makes the place messy even when it's clean! ;o)

Have fun w/ your new computer Betsy. I am so happy for you!

  5. Congratulations on the new 'puters Betsy! Greased lightning, huh? :c)

This song is hilarious! Reminds me more of people on dating sites. I don't think I could be anything but myself truly.

  6. Enjoy your new computer. I got a new Mac in September and I am still in love with it.

Brad's songs always put a smile on your face. I remember the first time I heard Ticks. I was on my way to work and I had to tell all my co-workers about the song I heard on my way in. Little did I know it was going to become a big hit.

  7. I'm the same person online that I am with family and friends. Well, maybe not quite as I'm sitting here in my fleece bathrobe right now! hee hee......

  8. Funny, funny song. I think I'm the same person on line that I am off. I'm happily married. I live in the town I grew up in, along with the rest of my siblings. I'm content. No need to have an alter ego.

  9. Congrats on your new computer! Love this song's lyrics - I'm sure there's a lot of "false" people out there online - you can be whoever you want on the Internet.
Me - I'm the same as well online- a nerdy birdwatcher!

  10. Great song! I'm pretty much the same Online. Thank goodness for that, because if my Online personality is "much cooler" then my real personality would indeed be dull. Heck! Maybe it is!

  11. Cute song.I do hope that my real personality shine through online.I am thankful that my online friends are not able to see how I look at all times,or for that matter how my house looks.I love being online and all the friends I have here. With me,this is who I am like it or not.
    Blessings,Ruth

  12. Congratulations on your new computers! That's what I like about the blogging community here - we're all pretty open with who we are. For me - WYSIWYG. Let's all work together in the same department for a few weeks though, under stress, with the company morale down the tubes, and we would get to see how each one has learned to cope, who the leaders are, who the naysayers and who a positive influence. LOL.

Even if I were to sign up for e-harmony, I just couldn't portray myself taller, thinner, smarter or better looking. My attitude, as I've grown older, is take me or leave me.

Now I'm off to check out the video! Sounds like a fun song. I just pray that our teenagers have discernment when it comes to how others portray themselves online! That weighs heavy on my heart with my grands turning teens!

  13. Hi Betsy, good to "see" you again. Congratulations on the new computer. I think I'm the same on-line. It would be hard for me to be something different. I guess a lot of people do, but it's usually people that are not happy with themself.

  14. I'm glad you got new computers Betsy ... so nice to have SPEED! Whahoo ... we'll have to hold onto our hats!

I'm pretty much the same online ... though I think I write better than I speak so tend to be on the shy side until I get to know people.

  15. I have to confess, we didn't know who Brad Paisley was so I went to the internet and the very first You Tube video under his name was that song ... too funny!

  16. I hope I am the same person online as I am in person. At least I try to be! (except for that fact that Pigeon is actually the name of one of my cats)

  17. H,mmmmm, Interesting question. I hope that my real personality comes through and that gets easier and easier the more comfortable I get with friends like you. I try not to post the bad too much or the negative. I think it's a place to be your best self.

  18. This is hilarious, and the lighter side of those notorious chat rooms! I'll stick to blogging-as-I-am!

  19. I also went to you tube and watched the video. That is so funny. I didn't realize that I like Brad Paisley so much. He has a unique voice. I will listen to him more often. Thank YOu!

  20. I had not heard that song. It's funny, but it probably is so true for a lot of folks. I guess a person can be whoever he wants to be online and no one would know the different.

    Good post.

  21. I'm really Roseanne Barr.
    HAHAHAHA!
just kidding...but I think you know that.

  22. I must admit that I haven't heard the song or seen the video. Must do both.

  23. it's so true...you just don't know who to believe...but maybe that's the mystique of the internet. i will go check out the utube on this one. have a happy sunday.

  24. Who am I online? I refuse to answer on the grounds that I might incriminate myself...hehehe Just joking...I am basically me online. The only thing I usually don't bore people when I feel low, like I do my face to face friends...or Neal.

  25. I do love this song too...and it is fitting for this day and age. Well, we know who WE are...cause we put up our pictures, warts and all. ;)
The video is funny. I watched it on YOUTUBE.COM

  30. That is a cute song. I haven't heard it yet, but will try to.

I know you like the snow Betsy, but I hope it doesn't get too deep. :-)

  31. That's funny, ... and true. Have you ever seen the famous New Yorker cartoon that shows a dog siting at a computer and telling another dog: "On the internet nobody knows your a dog." Anyhow, it captures the same theme. I try to be both the same, but blogging, email, and Facebook are parallel universes.

  32. I am me!!! Love the song it is wonderful!!! Hope your weekend was too!!!...m.

  33. I haven't heard the song but I love the words! I'm just me on line. The same always.

  34. Well it sounds like all of my blogger friends are THEMSELVES online. I certainly am---and wouldn't want to be someone different. I'm sure there are some people online who aren't really who they say they are---but thank goodness, I don't know any of them!!!!!

Glad you enjoyed the Brad Paisley song. He's got a bunch more good songs.. Check out "Ticks".
    Hugs to all,
    Betsy

  35. Betsy, I am a HUGE Brad fan, even belong to his fanclub and got front row seats to see him in OKC 2 yrs ago. I agree totally about his clever lyrics, that's one of the main reasons I love him so much.

BTW - the trip is in June, still at home my friend! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I agree, I don't think I'm too far removed from my reality online, but I'm not objective either!

So what kind of computer did you get? Like the new look.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What you see is what you get. :)

I think you'll like Picasa. It just came out of beta on the Mac so you're lucky in that sense. Believe it or not the way your screen looks is more of a function of your graphics card and monitor than what it's connected to.

  38. Betsy: I love Brad and finally got to see him live this year. He put on a great show.

  39. LOL! A very funny song, but I'm glad I'm not a single trying to sort out who is real and who isn't on-line. What a life. I think the "real me" is in my blogs :-) Off-line, I'm shyer.

  40. I must look up this singer. Funny lyrics.
Online, I try to project a great adventurer, I guess. When, in fact, I'm kind of mousy and scared of my own shadow. However, thanks to Steve, I'm dragged along on the adventures anyway!
