Sunrises and Sunsets while at Mt. Nebo, Arkansas -Feb. 2014

Neal, Patti and George at Sunrise Point at 6:45 am on 2/26/14 (19 degrees F --wind chill made it feel like 9 degrees)
Besides just being in our little cabin with a view on top of the mountain at Mt Nebo, Arkansas,  the thing I love the most is seeing the beautiful sunrises and sunsets from that mountain. AND--since we had friends with us this time,  we were hoping to see more 'beauties' while there.  AND---we certainly did!!!  Hope you enjoy seeing some photos of God's blessings to us today!!!

So grab a cuppa and sit back and relax for a minute ---looking at my photos!! Hope you enjoy them as much as I do... Click on them for larger photos!

Sunrise- 2/26/14;  Lots of clouds that morning --but where the sun peaked through was pretty; Love the way it glistened on the water below;

Sunset- 2/26/14;  We had a gorgeous sunset that night.  I love framing my sunsets with the trees around our cabin.

Sunset- 2/26/14;  This is one of my favorite photos EVER of a sunset... I love the tree branches framing this sunset.

Sunrise- 2/27/14;  This one was a beauty!  The photo is looking down into the town of Dardanelle, about 6:45 am.

Sunrise- 2/27/14;   Neal, Patti and George enjoyed seeing this beautiful sunrise from Sunrise Point. It was another cold morning --but not quite as cold as the day before!

Sunset- 2/27/14;  I love sunrises and sunsets when there are some clouds around.  This was another beauty, don't you think?

This is a close-up of the clouds above the sunset.  I took this photo AFTER the sun went down behind the mountain!  Aren't the colors just beautiful?

Well---that's my list of sunrises and sunsets for this year from Mt. Nebo.  There's one more fantastic beauty on my Photo Blog today.  Please don't miss it!  Click HERE for that blog.    AND--don't forget to check out my sidebar --since I put all new quotes on this week.   Thanks!!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

More Beach Beauty!

Sunrise at the Beach
On a cold winter day,  I'm going to share more photos from our trip to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina on Dec. 3-6, 2013.  Above is another sunrise photo.   I loved seeing all of the sunbeams.

Lots of FOG on the beach
One morning --it was very very foggy --but we still enjoyed our walks on the beach.

George on the Beach on a Foggy morning

One more 'foggy' photo --showing our inn (Islander Inn)

Betsy at the 'big house'
If you have followed my blog for several years,  you will remember me showing this huge home --when they first started building it.  It's all completed now,  so do you want to visit me here sometime?????  HA HA ---I could only qualify to be a housekeeper here!!!

An Angry Ocean one Day

Beautiful sky at sunset on 12/5

George at the Beach --on a sunny day (quite different from the foggy day)

The Fishing Pier at Ocean Isle Beach
We always take a ton of pictures of the Fishing Pier when we go to the beach.  I like this one because of the reflections --and also that gorgeous sky!!!!  Clouds at the beach are so interesting.

Another picture of the Girl who LOVES the Beach

One of my favorite Sunset Photos!  (Look at the colors even along the shore. Wow!)  12/3

Two People who Love being at the Beach
I posted this photo before ---but wanted to end with it today ---just to show you how much we truly do love the beach and each other... We'll be back there hopefully in May!

I'll be taking Wednesday and Friday off from blogging to enjoy VALENTINE's DAY with the Love of my Life... Hope you have a great week--and a Happy Valentine's Day to ALL... Show LOVE wherever you go!  I will be back on Monday,  February 17.

The Beach in Winter--December, 2013

Sunrise at Ocean Isle Beach -12/4
We love going to the beach in December.  We go to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina (north of Myrtle Beach).  We love it there when we go each year in May---but we almost love it as much in winter...

I have two posts sharing photos from this wonderful beach,  and this is the first one.  Hope you enjoy seeing these pictures --especially in winter when so many of us 'dream' about going somewhere like the beach!

Be sure to click on the photos for enlargements.  Above is a sunrise we saw from our room on December 4.  There were clouds down low that morning --but the sky above was pretty.  We cannot see the sunrise in May---so seeing this (and seeing the sunsets) in December is VERY special...  I certainly don't mind getting up early to see the sunrise here.

Islander Inn
Once we were able to walk on the beach on December 4,  we took a photo of our  'home' that week.  Our room is the 2nd building from the right (above the gazebo),  the top one on the left...  We ask for this room each time we go there..

The Islander Inn's rooms have everything we need (ocean-front room, king bed, sofa/chairs, desk, coffee pot, big TV, internet, microwave, small refrigerator, porch, full bath, etc.).  They also provide a great breakfast each morning .  AND--for those interested, there is an indoor pool and  outdoor pool (closed in winter).  We highly recommend it --and the price is definitely right especially in the off-season!

George on the beach
George and I LOVE walking on the beach --both in May and December.  Since we choose the off-seasons,  the beach is almost always OURS --with few others around.

Sun-Dog
On the afternoon of December 3,  we were waiting to see the sunset --when we noticed a 'sun dog'.... Wikipedia says that this is an atmospheric phenomenon that creates bright spots of light in the sky, often on a luminous ring or halo on either side of the sun.  Neat, huh????

Birds on the beach
We didn't see many birds on the beach this year (like we did last December when it was MUCH colder there).  But---I did manage to see a few and get some photos!

Betsy on the beach
Here is a photo George took of me when we were taking one of our MANY walks on the beach.  The weather warmed up nicely and we didn't have to wear our sweatshirts all week.  (Some of you may remember last year's trip here when it was SO cold.... Click HERE for that post.  This year we came more prepared for cold weather --and it was not cold at all.  Go Figure!!!! ha)

Sunset- 12/3
This was the prettiest sunset we saw all week.  It was on Dec. 3.  It was just fantastic--one of those sunsets that takes your breath away!

George near the Fishing Pier
Here's George as we took another of our long walks on the beach... We took long walks twice every day... Great Exercise!!!  I love this photo of the Fishing Pier --showing its reflections.

The Gazebo at the Islander Inn
From our porch,  we could look down on the Gazebo below us... We did sit on this Gazebo a few times this week, and even took some photos from there.

Sunset,  12/5
Here's another sunset photo.  I love the way the sun's colors can light up the entire sky...

Betsy on the Gazebo.
I was fascinated with the dunes at Ocean Isle Beach... These sea oats are SO pretty.

Us at Ocean Isle Beach
Here is a photo of us taken on 12/4.  This was taken at the Calabash Creamery --where we had some ICE CREAM... Yum!!!!

As I said,  I have one more post from the beach to share.  Hope you are enjoying seeing our photos from this fun trip!!!!

Be sure to check out my sidebar.   I did my 'monthly' change of quotes... Hopefully,  one of those quotes will speak to you--or to someone you know!

Three Very Different Sunrises

SUNRISE on February 14, 2013
As most of you know,  George and I visit  Mt. Nebo State Park in Arkansas at least once a year,  sometimes twice.  We stay in a little cabin on the top of the mountain with a view of the valley below.  One thing we love to do when we are there is to get up early and drive to Sunrise Point and watch the sun come up!!!!!

Today,  I will show you THREE different sunrises on three very different mornings.  One morning,  we experienced some clouds.  Another morning was fog in the valley below, and on another morning,  it was as clear and extremely colorful!!!!   Hope you enjoy seeing our sunrises taken at the same place ---but all very different,  one from the other.   Be sure to click on all photos to see enlargements.

I.  First,  comes the  FOGGY morning  (February 14, 2013)...  There is a bench at Sunrise Point where we can sit and just take in all of that beauty.  The picture above shows the bench ---and also shows the fog in the valley below... It looks like marshmallow cream down there!!!  Anyone got any hot chocolate????  (Hot Chocolate would have tasted good since it was a cold morning.)

Here's a close-up of the FOG below us.  Beautiful,  isn't it?

George took this picture of me sitting on the bench --waiting for that sun to pop up!!!  Except for being COLD (afterall,  it's February),   I loved sitting there gazing at the sky and valley below.

OH MY---Here comes Mr. Sunshine!!!  See it?    Oh Wow!

And here is Mr. Sun--showing all of his glory and majesty...  Anyone who doesn't believe in God has never experienced a sunrise!!!!!!   Awesome!

II.  Here is another morning that week (February 15, 2013)---with very different --but quite interesting results...  Here comes a morning with lots of CLOUDS around.   See how different it looks????

Clouds do make for a very interesting sky,  don't they?????  Like I said,  it's quite different---but beautiful in its own way.

When we finally got a hole in the clouds,   George got this picture of Mr. Sun ---peering at us through the clouds... Not a typical sunrise --but pretty, nevertheless!!!

III.  This was the best day for beautiful colors in the sky.   This sunrise was one of the most gorgeous ones I have EVER seen.  Hope you enjoy the photos.  The picture above was what it looked like when we first got there... The town below (Dardanelle, Arkansas) was beginning to wake up!

The sky just got more vivid ---and you can see the reflections on the water below.

Look at all of the colors in the sky...  (And this is not photo-shopped.  It is straight out of the camera!!! All of my photos are, since I seldom touch anything up.)   Amazing,  isn't it!  Thanks be to God for our beautiful world.  If we humans would only learn to take care of it!

Here she comes!!!!!  "You are my sunshine --my only sunshine."  (Don't know why sometimes I think of the sun as being a 'he' and sometimes a 'she'..... ha ha )

Finally,   that glorious sunshine appears and we can begin another day!!!!! WOW!!!

I am so blessed to get to sit on that bench and see those beautiful sunrises.   Our home here in Tennessee is between mountain ranges --so it's hard to ever catch a nice sunrise or sunset from here.   SO---as much as I don't like to get up REALLY EARLY,  seeing a sunrise like this makes it all worthwhile.  Thanks be to God for all of the beauty that surrounds us.

Hope you enjoyed all three mornings of sunrises.   We also saw sunsets (from our cabin) --so that post will come at a later time.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend --and don't forget to get out in nature and do some walking!!!  It's good for all of us!

BLOG BREAK:  We're going to take a couple of weeks off from blogging...  Lots of 'stuff' going on here.  Hope you are enjoying your summer so far.  We should start blogging again on July 1st.  I will be checking email and Facebook --so you can keep up with me that way if you want to.

Hugs,
