More from Ocean Isle Beach

I've talked alot about our May visit to Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Click
HERE to see any or all of the 5 posts that I've done so far. Today, I'm going to show you some other things I saw while at Ocean Isle. Above is one of the many, many birds we saw most everywhere we went. One cannot go to the beach without seeing lots of BIRDS. These noisy little Gulls were everywhere---and wanted to be FED!!!! Below are more photos.

Lighthouses are also found along the beach and shore. If I didn't collect photos of waterfalls, I think I would collect Lighthouses.... OR---maybe covered-bridges.... Who knows!!!!! ha

And, leave it up to me to notice the pretty flowers (Snapdragons) --which were found outside of one of the restaurants (Boundary House) where we ate one evening.

And you know that a trip to the beach means some deep sea fishing....Do you like the little fishie "I" caught??????? {Eat your heart out, FISHING GUY (Tom).} ha ha ha

Also---after a hard day of fishing, you can enjoy an evening out on the sea on the Casino Boat.... Ready to WASTE some money????????

Well---I guess I need to admit that we didn't go fishing, nor did we go out on the gambling boat... BUT---we did sit on our balcony and...

...enjoy watching the gorgeous clouds over the water... Forget the fishing and the gambling.... I'd much rather see beautiful sights like this!!!!!! (By the way, wonder what that is in the water????? Hmmmmm!)

Oh that Ocean Isle Beach!! We highly recommend a nice vacation there at the Islander Inn. I wish I were there today instead of sitting in the doctor's office waiting to find out what is wrong with my crazy knee and leg.

Sun's Rays on the Ocean

On May 5, after getting back to our room from having dinner at the Boundary House, we sat on the balcony and watched the sun's rays hit the ocean --as it began to set in the west. Today I'll show you some of what we saw that evening ---and the next morning. The picture above is looking down the beach to the right. Isn't everything just gorgeous this time of evening? More pictures are below! You can thank George for taking ALL of these gorgeous pictures.

One of the Casino Boats is heading out to sea for their Sunset Cruise. They have to get 3 miles out in order for people to gamble.

The water looks so blue with the sun shining on it. This is looking straight ahead from our room. (If you have missed any of our other Ocean Isle Beach trip pictures recently, you can look on my sidebar and find the label which says OCEAN ISLE 2010.)

I love the way the sun is reflecting off of the fishing pier in this picture. This is to the left of our balcony.

Then, we got to see those gorgeous pink clouds in the distance --over the water. Awesome, don't you think?

AND THEN------------------ this is early the next morning when we woke up. What did we see????? FOG..... Isn't life interesting staying on the beach? One can see all kinds of things (sunshine, rain, fog, rainbows, clouds, etc.).... LOVE IT!!!!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

One thing which George and I love when we go to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina each year is to sit and listen to the waves as they roar. We even leave our door open during the nights so that we can sleep with that incredible sound in the background. Today, I'm sharing some more of our pictures from the beach ---and this time, we'll share some of the pictures of the waves. Hope you enjoy them.

Aren't the waves just gorgeous?

You can see the fishing pier WAY in the distance!!! See it?

Next to the fishing pier; The sea was angrier this day!

Looking under the pier;

Walking away from the fishing pier;

Hope you enjoyed more of our pictures from Ocean Isle Beach. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't get my dose of the beach at least once a year. George is trying to talk me into going back more often --and I'd love that. BUT---there are so many other places we enjoy going to also!!!!! Oh Well...It's a nice problem to have!!!!

My knee is still very painful --even though I'm on some pain meds... For an active gal like me, this problem is very frustrating. Thanks for your kind words and thoughts.

Things that Make My Heart Beat!

There are so many things in my life which make me happy. It's hard to put them into a single blog post. But today, since it is my youngest son's 39th birthday, I wanted to talk a little about some of the important things in my life. Above is a favorite of mine each year.. Do you like to walk along the beach, feel the sand between your toes, or just sit and listen to the waves as they roar??? Ocean Isle Beach definitely makes me happy!

Another thing that makes me happy is seeing a gorgeous waterfall. This one is in beautiful Tallulah Gorge, Georgia. OH--my Heart!!!!!!! Wow!

My beautiful yard and home ---and our flowers, especially the Hybrid Tea ROSES, make my heart go pitter-pat. And my Sweetie spoils me by bringing a beautiful fragrant rose into the house almost every day during this time of year--just for ME. Above is a picture of the roses sitting on our table now. Aren't they just marvelous?

Here are more reasons for my happiness... These are my 3 sons: seated from left to right: Bert --age 46 and Mark--age 40; standing is Jeff--age 39 TODAY!!!! I am so blessed to have three wonderful young men in my life. They definitely have my heart. I am so proud of all of them!

Having a wonderful visit with son Jeff on Mother's Day certainly brought me SO much happiness. And --look what he brought me. This hanging basket is VERBENA. Isn't it beautiful??? I love the little pink flowers.

This little beauty is a FUCHSIA. I have never had either of these flowers before --and absolutely love both of them. They look so good hanging on our deck. Thanks Jeff!!!!

This young man above is my life... He definitely has my heart ----and makes me happier than I've ever been in my entire life. Thanks George for coming into my life --and making my heart flutter!!! I love you, Sweetheart!!! Thanks for giving me an incredible life.

Hope you enjoyed hearing just some of the things which make me happy and make my heart beat with LOVE. There obviously are many more --including my grands, but that is for another blog post.

P.S. Happy Birthday Jeff!!!!! I love you with all of my heart and soul!

Over the Ocean

As I mentioned, this is the fourth year we have gone to the Islander Inn at Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Every year is a little different from the previous year. The picture above of the MOON over the ocean was taken LAST year. Look at the next picture to see where the moon was this year!!!!!

Look up---at the top of the picture... Can you see the moon????? It's there for us this year---during the DAYTIME... Not quiet the same, is it???? ha

Uh Oh----what's that in the sky above those beach houses, as we faced inland??? Looks like some rain may be coming!!!! (NOTE: Another thing we love about Ocean Isle is that the island consists of lots and lots of houses --like those pictured above-- and NO big high-rises. Well---there is ONE high-rise on the south end, but that is ALL, and we hope that no more high-rises are ever allowed to be built here. Unfortunately, that is what has happened to the Cherry Grove area in South Carolina. What a shame!!!! Progress!!!! BAH!)

The rains are getting closer to the beach!! (We only had one day of rain while there, and we really enjoyed watching and listening to the rain.)

A couple of people managed to walk on the beach during the rain---and it was NOT us. We sat on our balcony and just enjoyed it while staying DRY.

Late in the afternoon, after the rain, guess what???? The SUN came out in the west. AND...

guess what we saw?????? WOW---it's a DOUBLE RAINBOW... How gorgeous is that!!!! We were so excited ---and I think we took a zillion pictures of it. I was upset for not seeing a 'Night' moon this year, but after seeing the rainbow---I was definitely a 'happy camper'... Thank You, God!!!!

What happens after a good rain????? Well---this was the next morning---and everything outside was as clear as a bell, and very very clean, with almost no humidity. Talk about the perfect day---after a good rain!!!!

SO--what did we see 'over the ocean'???? We saw a MOON (even if it was during the day), some CLOUDS, the RAIN, a wonderful RAINBOW, and then the SUNSHINE. See what we enjoy when we go to the beach?????? Of course, there's alot more ---but that is for another post!!!

Have a wonderful day, and please take a minute to remember a couple of people today: Dorothy's son, Joe, who was severely burned in an accident; and Darla's Daddy, who has cancer and heart problems. And don't forget the people who lost so much in the floods throughout Tennessee. Thanks!

Ocean Isle Beach, NC

We are home after a wonderful week at the beach in North Carolina. We only had one day of rain while we were there ---and the rest of the week was PERFECT in every respect. We enjoyed walking and sitting on the beach, reading, relaxing, sleeping --and most of all, the delicious seafood in the area. This is the 4th year we have visited the Islander Inn in May.

Ocean Isle is located just north of Myrtle Beach---so we are close enough to go to the 'city' ---if we are looking for some 'action'.. BUT--we are far enough way to get away from the crowds. AND--all of the delicious, fresh Calabash seafood is near here. This is a perfect place to be---in our opinion.

Our room is like a fancy motel room (with king bed, big flatscreen TV, internet, sofa, small frig, microwave, etc.)---and is perfect for us for the week. They provide a good breakfast each morning ---so we only snack at lunch and then eat a nice dinner out each night.

Here are some pictures taken this year while at Ocean Isle. Above is looking north from our balcony toward the fishing pier. Below are more.

This is another view of the Atlantic Ocean ---from our balcony. That place is just so peaceful!!!!

Here's one more picture taken from our balcony. This one is looking south. You can see the gazebo and part of the pool/lounging area in this picture.

Here's looking back at the Islander Inn from the beach. The Islander consists of 7 buildings (all with the red roofs). This year we were in Building 1 (last one on the right) --in the top left room. (NOTE: The building with the blue roof is part of another set of motel buildings next door, similar to Islander Inn.)

Here's a close-up of our building.. You can see that our door is open from the balcony into the room. We love to hear the waves ---so we leave the door open most of the time. The swimming pool is below us ---but since it was a quiet week, there was never much noise.

We picked a perfect week to go this year. There weren't many people around (which we love) ---and it seemed as if we had most of the area and the beach to ourselves all week!!!! And--as much as I love the sun, we were very careful this year ---using LOTS of sunscreen. SO- no sunburns!!!! Yeah!

We have many more pictures to share ---but just wanted to show you our little home this past week. It was awesome ---but I am also glad to be home again!!!!

Hope you had a nice Mother's Day. I did --since my 'baby' came to visit me. My baby is almost 39 yrs. old now... Yipes!!!! We had a wonderful day and went to dinner at the Cumberland Mountain State Park Restaurant. It was delicious ---but even better was the company of a wonderful son. He brought me two gorgeous hanging baskets for our yard. SO PRETTY!!!!

One more note: We also were lucky that our area of TN was spared from all of the flooding while we were gone. We did have 4.5 inches of rain that weekend in our area--but found everything at our home in good shape (including the weeds) when we got home Saturday. Please don't forget to pray for and help as you can, those people who lost so much due to the flooding. It's just very sad to see the devastation.

Hope all of you had a wonderful week. I read many blogs---but didn't comment as much as I usually do. Hopefully, I'll catch up with all of you soon.
