Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

YELLOWSTONE --- Day 2, September 20, 2012

I am continuing to share our western trip in September of 2012.  This is part II of our 2nd day in Yellowstone.. If you missed Part I,  click HERE.   On this post,  we are continuing to check out sites along the North Rim of the Canyon Area of Yellowstone...  If you want to read more information on this area, click HERE

The photo above was taken at the GRANDVIEW Area.   I loved seeing the Grand Canyon (Arizona) in 2011---but seeing this canyon in Yellowstone seemed even more gorgeous!!!!  If you click on the photo,  you can read the info about this area.  IF you EVER get to Yellowstone,  do not MISS the Canyon area.. It's tremendous!!!

Click on all photos for enlargements... I  'think' ??? that Blogger fixed the Slideshow now.

Here is a picture showing the Yellowstone River DEEP down in the canyon... Isn't it awesome?

I love this picture of the canyon.   It takes me forever to go over all of the photos --and then choose one or two to feature!!!!!!

This  collage show you more photos of this amazing area.

Here is a larger version showing the canyon and its steepness and rugged terrain.

The other area that we visited on the North Rim was  Inspiration Point...  This is another area which you should not miss ---if you get to Yellowstone..  For a map of the canyon,  click HERE.   The picture above is a view taken from Inspiration Point. Can you believe the colors!

This  collage shows more photos from Inspiration Point.

Here is another close-up of the canyon.  Amazing,  isn't it???

This  is a photo from Inspiration Point --at a distance -- of UPPER FALLS (which I will feature in my next Yellowstone post when we start our hike on the South Rim).

Here is a collage showing more photos from Inspiration Point.  The one in the middle shows UPPER FALLS --using the long lens.

This is George doing what we both did the entire trip----taking photos!!!!! ha

Here's one more collage  of us as we checked out the areas of Grandview and Inspiration Point...  This is truly one very amazing place...  Hope you enjoyed seeing more of our Yellowstone photos.

Have a great weekend,  and I'll see you on Monday.

Hugs,

Have no idea where I got the impression but I never entertained Yellowstone and canyons in the same thought. You are right, the canyons are awesome. Perhaps my impression of Yellowstone stopped with images of Old Faithful, Bears and Yogi. Thanks for expanding my knowledge. Such a beautiful place.

Fabulous Betsy, all brilliant photos! Did you and George drive to Yellowstone? The last time Gregg and I went we flew into Las Vegas and road-tripped from there, but next time we are road-tripping it the whole way. Can't wait! Thank you for these wonderful photos. I will bookmark this post for when we start traveling.

As I've told you, it looks like Yellowstone will be on the Summer Trip 2014 agenda, so every time you post something new, I'm all ears!!

Magnificent rugged scenery from those high vantage points. I'm intrigued by the notice that says watch out for the steam vents and geysers at work in the walls of the canyon.

Just, just - gorgeous! Wow. I didn't even realize that Yellowstone had its own canyon! Your posts always make me want to learn more about the fabulous places you visit.

Your photos are all wonderful and did justice to the place, which is really grand and awesome. But there is something scary with the place, it is beyond comprehension.

It is a magnificent area. When we visited, I had not heard about this part of the park before and I was shocked at how gorgeous it is!

The canyons are just so vast it is hard to imagine standing there and looking at that amazing countryside for as far as the eye can see. Every time I look at your photos I am trying to work out when I can visit some of these places for myself.

Your photos are just gorgeous, Betsy. Can you believe we've not been to Yellowstone? For some reason, I never thought of Yellowstone NP being this awesome, I only ever saw pics of the geysers and that didn't intrigue me. Or bears, ha ha. I can see that Yellowstone has to be entered on my bucket list!
Have a wonderful weekend. It's very cold here today after too much rain.

I just love Yellowstone, Betsy. Whenever we go, we come back with hundreds of photos. Just whittling them down takes days!
You chose some beauties for this post. So glad you were able to visit and enjoy the Canyons area.

It is a rainy, windy day here and is supposed to turn cold tonight. Dogwood winter as the dogwoods have just started to bloom around here.

Hi Betsy, Wonderful shots of Yellowstone. I also enjoyed seeing that canyon and the area of the falls. Amazing drive to the place with Buffalo and Elk and Wolves (saw the Wolves earlier in the AM that day through binoculars and the long lens of the Nikon). Have a super nice coming week!
