Best of 2011: ROSES

Summer of Love--taken 5/13/11
If you are new to my blog,  you may not know that we grow beautiful ROSES in our yard.  Actually,  George grows them and I just enjoy them.  We have about 55 different varieties.  SO--it was fun going through all of my 2011 blog posts searching for my favorite 2011 Roses...  Again,  it's hard to choose only a few --but I did it!!!!  Hope you enjoy our beautiful Hybrid Tea and  Grandiflora Roses.  Be sure and click on the pictures to see them enlarged.

Beautiful & Gorgeous ~ I mean Betsyful and Georgeous ... I LOVE you for sharing those roses with us! I can certainly understand why it's hard to pick a favorite. I'm just amazed that you know their names. I put a plant in and it's name is either Dead or Alive, Brown or Green.

What a beautiful variety Betsy. George certainly has the magic touch and how sweet to bring you one every day. I love roses. Growing up we had a lovely garden thanks to my Dad who was an incredible gardener. Whenever I see roses now I always think of the TLC he gave his and the joy they gave us in return. Thank you for sharing yours.

Perfect timing for this post. Viewing your (George's) beautiful roses have helped me fortify my senses for a rather large snow that seems to be hovering over our area.

Best,

George is a romantic devil and a talented gardener. I have a horrible time trying to grow just ole Knock out roses. Maybe you can lend me George next spring. I did enjoy the breath of spring and summer these gorgeous blooms provided. Thanks for sharing and wishing you a great weekend too. Peace

I can see why you had a hard time choosing these few photographs from your vast collection. It was hard for me to pick favorites from this bunch, but the two photos I thought the prettiest were the ones of About Face and Apricot Nectar. Those two made beautiful macros.

I love them all, Betsy, and I appreciate you and George sharing them with us. Just wish I could smell their sweet fragrance.

I tried to grow roses back in the 1990s, but gave up when they required pesticides. I was afraid of contracting leukemia! Your roses are beautiful, and how sweet of George to bring one to you daily during the spring and summer. My dad used to bring in gardenias for my mother.

wow. that about face one stole my heart, but the apricot one came in close, too!

Hi Betsy, these are some gorgeous roses. I can almost smell their scent just looking at them!
My good friend's husband grows beautiful roses like George does. When they moved from their former home a few years ago, Bob left behind dozens of rose bushes. The new owners could have cared less and let all those beautiful roses just fend for themselves. Well, you know how that went. How anyone could do that do a beautiful rose garden, I'll never know!
I tried George's method of growing them in pots this year with a couple. They did really well. I'll be interested to see if they wintered over nicely. Looking forward to warm weather again and flowers!!
Have a great weekend!
