Ocean Isle Beach, A Piece of Heaven!!

Since we go to Ocean Isle at least once a year (twice in 2010)---you have already seen alot of our pictures from there.  It is truly our kind of place... The Islander Inn is just exactly what we want when we go to the beach... It's north of Myrtle Beach --away from the crowds.  And yet,  we are close enough to go to the 'city' if we want to!!!!

The Inn offers a delicious breakfast buffet.  Our room is perfect for us and includes all of the amenities of a nice motel room.   And, as I said in Monday's post,  we love being directly ON the beach --so that we can enjoy the beach and ocean from our balcony.  Today I will share a few more pictures from this year's trip to the beach..

This is the pool and Tiki Hut/Bar at the Islander Inn.  There weren't many people swimming in the pool this week--but there were a few sunbathers, and people sitting by the pool off and on during the week.  George and I enjoy the beach more than the pool --so we don't spend much time there.  I'm sure this is a busy pool/area during the tourist season though.

The Islander Inn has a wonderful little gazebo.   People will sit out there on a hot day and read or just enjoy the ocean sounds.  There are MANY weddings here at the Islander Inn.  People will rent rooms at the Inn for the wedding party,  and get married on the beach. You can see all of the white chairs stored on  the left of the walkway to the beach.  These chairs are used for weddings.

Here is a picture of our little balcony.  We sat there many hours this past week,  doing our daily devotions --or reading--or just enjoying the ocean/beach.

I took this picture of George from our balcony taking a walk along the beach (with camera in hand).  Can you see him???

Here is one of the many pictures he took of the waves,  up close and personal.

AND---I love this picture of the fishing pier George took---showing a great reflection on the sand.   Neat huh???

This time of year,  the sun sets on the front side of the Islander Inn.  George went out front several nights trying to get some great sunset pictures, over the houses across the road.  I think this is a good one of the sky after the sun had set.

Hope you enjoyed seeing more of our pictures from the Islander Inn at Ocean Isle Beach in southern North Carolina.

Have a wonderful day.
Hugs,

What a gorgeous and peaceful place to visit. I think you go at the right time too...before the summer crowds. I imagine a wedding on the beach here would be so romantic.

The soothing ambience of your trip seeps through the photos and into my subconcious---a good way for me to wake up this morning.
I esp. like the photo of the pier and its reflection.
However, they are all lovely and this place seems like a wonderful haven for rest, relaxation, and reflection. Wonderful, Betsy.

It does indeed look like a litle piece of heaven. Not much is more relaxing than sitting at the beach listening to the waves break on the sand.

My son's family was talking about going to Myrtle Beach. I need to tell him about "your" place. It sure looks neat to me.

It is a super place to stay. I love the fact that there are not many people about. Sitting and reading on the balcony sounds perfect. I have the same kind of little tables on our balcony.

Hi Betsy, I found you on Deb's blog. What's In My Attic. I thought I would stop by and meet you. You seem like my kind of gal. I love beach get aways, and that balcony looks like a great place to hang out with a steamy cup of coffee and my wonderful husband.
Loved your blog, and thanks for the b'day wishes.
I promise I don't take things every where I go.

Love those reflections and that beautiful sunset.
You are so smart to go when you do and have your own semi-private beach.
You all sure make it look inviting.

A beautiful and serene place, the little gazebo is perfect along the boardwalk.
I am amazed at how quiet the beach is, at this time of the year, almost a private beach.
I can taste that sea-salt from the waves ;)
Wonderful.

Great photos! I lived in Florida - many moons ago. I would never want to live there again. I need my 4 seasons and cool weather. It would be a good vacation spot, tho. Maybe one day!

1st of all... The pool is screaming my name, don't you hear it?! LoL! I haven't been swimming in so looong, I'd sooo love to go! =)

There's a web cam I check out once in a while in North Carolina that includes sound right on the beach & I like listening to the ocean... the ocean may be rough, but the sound is calming! =)

Man, how homesick these shots make me! Our favorite beach, Chic's, is a little known stretch of heaven on the north end of Virginia Beach. That's where I grew up and where I have to return at least a couple of times a year to recharge my soul. I can't wait to head down there next month!

Wow, what a place. I can see why you go back there. Beautiful photos.

A private paradise!! My favorites are that gorgeous pier reflection and the sunset. Seeing the pool and those stacked chairs for a wedding was real interesting. Do you and George swim? I would love to walk on the beach and dip my toes in the waves, but for swimming I would use that pool. Jaws and jellyfish, you know.

Lovely photos of a lovely place. Do you have any of the inside of the rooms?

We like to sit on the beach, too and each have our own umbrella!! :) I guess the Atlantic was still too cold for swimming?

Hi Betsy, You are accidentally making me homesick for the great beaches (but oh so cold water) of Southern California. I used to live a block from a sandy beach. My last home was a short two mile bike ride from a beach, too. I love Tennessee though! Have a great day!

Betsy, girl, you and George sure know how to live.
Loved every bit of this tour. Like Fred said, it's much cheaper vacationing this way., in our minds.

Hey Betsy
I'm catching up on my blog reading this morning as I sit at market waiting on customers. Those beach pics make me long for a trip to the beach, but I guess we will have to wait until late fall thia year as #1 son is scheduled to have his knee redone in June. The picture of the sunset sky is gorgeous.
Blessings to you
