FOG on Mt. Nebo

I have mentioned in all of my recent blogs about our trip to Mt. Nebo, Arkansas and all of the clouds, rain, and FOG (or mist, as some people call it) we had while there.  Today, I'll share with you some pictures taken from our cabin on a foggy day in Arkansas.  The picture above was taken from the back porch --looking toward the left.  Can you see the valley below????? ha ha

Here's  a picture taken from the back porch looking the other direction (to the right).

This  picture was also taken from the back---looking straight ahead....  Now---look at the next picture---and see what is different!!!

OH MY----what could it be????  A deer in our 'back yard'... Guess he thought we couldn't see him due to the fog!!!!!  Ya think???

There's not much of a view of the valley below, is there???

There were LOTS of deer grazing in our side yard.  Bet they loved the fog --since they felt as if nobody could see them!!!!

Here's one more of the deer near our cabin on that foggy afternoon.  I love the one on the right since he was playing Peekabo with me!!!!!! ha

Finally,  the sky is TRYING hard to clear.  I'm sure that it did that just so that we could see a beautiful sunset  on our last day at Mt. Nebo... Isn't the sky just gorgeous?????

Have a wonderful day.
Hugs,

It looks dangerous weather for hiking but doesn't it make interesting photos? Love the deer in the mist.

....eerie, but beautiful too! Everything always feels so strange when moving around in a heavy fog bank. Cool photos...

Fantastic! I love a foggy day, with the mystery of it all. The deer playing in it, thinking we are blind to them, how fun for you. Love that mist covered stone deck.
You sure visit some awesome scenery.

Your pictures made the fog so beautiful and I'm sure you're glad you didn't have to drive in that!

That fog/mist gives your beautiful mountain a bit of a haunted cast to it. Good think I don't watch scary movies! ;-) LOVE the deer pics!

I LOVE fog and the softness it gives everything and forces you to focus on what is close by.
The deer in the fog was just perfect. They seemed to be oblivious of you, except that one who saw you.
That last shot was almost Biblical.

Too bad every day except the first was foggy though. I know how you love to take pictures and obviously picture taking wasn't as good as it could have been!!
It must have been nice to just relax.

I'm usually a little creeped out by fog. I guess all the scary movies...
Good thing you could see the deer thru the fog, or those footsteps may have creeped you out too. ha!

That place certainly is beautiful Betsy. I hope to visit there someday.

I hadn't completely given up blogging. I just don't have the time for it like I use to.

Hope you and George are doing great!

That first picture is especially beautiful, with the closest tree limb in sharp detail and everything else in fog. I also really liked the one of the herd of deer among the trees in the fog. Fog pictures can be difficult, but you've done a good job with these.

Wow Betsy! Those are awesome photos!!! I love the deer playing peek-a-boo! How lucky you are to have a family of deer so close, and to think they let you take their pic!

I'm glad you had such a good vacation.

Hi Betsy, these are a great set of photos! The fog/mist is so eerily beautiful. I don't like driving in it, but is pretty to look at. A couple of years ago when I was driving home from work, patches of fog was hanging low like clouds and it was the most beautiful foggy night I've ever seen. I wished I could have captured in on camera.

Fog always reminds me of Daphne de Maurier's REBECCA.

And that sky is indeed beautiful.

I love the deer in the fog!!! The pictures are so other-worldly! It reminds me of scenes from Robin Hood. Are you sure you weren't in Sherwood Forest?

Betsy, what can I say...I loved every one of these. I love fog shots, but hardly ever get out to take any. These are wonderful.

I haven't been to Mt. Nebo in almost forever -- probably in the early 1970's -- but remember it as a beautiful place. I love your foggy fotos and, of course, the deer! They must have heard you and George were coming.

The fog makes for some remarkable photos.

I would be afraid of Sasquatch showing up in this kind of weather. Since I have seen several programs about him I don't think I will ever feel completely comfortable in the deep forests again.

I never minded the fog except for when I have to drive in it. It always makes things look so different. You sure had quite the herd of deer visiting you. That one peaking from behind the tree is funny

Beautiful fogy day! We hardly get to see fog in a hot city. We get that may be a day or two due to the pollution and the smoke. Glad you enjoyed your time in your cabin with deers all around you.

I never expected you to share with us pictures of deer in the fog. Great job!

You're in the clouds! Great photos. One day now and then, fog is ok, but not everyday. Makes for dramatic shots!

What grand experiences you had on Mt. Nebo! The deer shots are incredible. I've been told that the deer cannot see very well at all. They rely on their keen sense of smell and hearing. What a beautiful time for you.

OH MY GOSH BETSY!! LOVE THESE PICS!! made me think of that movie Bagger Vance....when he is on the golf course and it is just gorgeous! You have such an amazing gift and I am so thankful that you share it with us. I think I have told George before that I would have such a hard time because almost every one of your pics (both of you) I would want to frame!! I don't think I could have a house big enough because you all are both just amazing!

Wow, I think that's what they mean when they say 'socked in'!
It's beautiful to me though. I love the quiet and introspective of a foggy day.
I'm a little worried about that little dear so close to the edge. Hope he stayed safe. The one peeking is a fun shot Betsy!!!
The last shot is beautiful with a glorious sign of hope!

The fog may have obstructed your view of the valley but it gave you some great backyard photos Betsy. I love all your shots of the deer especially the one looking at you from behind the tree.

That last shot is gorgeous, what a beautiful sunset it must have been.
