2010 Best Of...: PHOTOS--Part II

If you missed Part I of my favorite photos of 2010,   go to the end of this blog and click on OLDER POST.  I posted Part I yesterday... Today I will share six more picture with you, beginning with a picture taken from the Shenandoah Valley with Skyline Drive in the background.  This picture was taken in August of 2010.

This picture was also taken in August and was taken from the Blue Ridge Parkway.  As you can tell, there were storms around --which made for some great pictures. We were on our way to the Peaks of Otter that day.

I love clouds ---and I love mountains.  This beautiful picture was taken from Skyline Drive in Virginia on 8/7/10.

You can only imagine my joy at seeing the ELK in Cataloochie Valley,  North Carolina.  This picture was taken on 10/20/10.  Isn't he awesome?

I love this picture taken at Ocean Isle Beach on 12/20/10.  We were watching the sunset ---and I turned around and noticed how pretty the beach looked while facing the other direction,  with the sun shining on it...

Finally, here is a favorite Christmas picture of our home all lit up ---while it was snowing.  This picture was taken on 12/12/10.

Hope you enjoyed my fav's of 2010.  I'm sure there are lots and lots more --but I'll stop with these.  Thanks for allowing me to share all of my 2010 favorites.  If you missed some of them,  you can go to my sidebar,  scroll down to my labels, and click on  2010 Fav's.  I think I have done a total of 10 different posts featuring my favorite pictures from 2010.

Have a wonderful weekend.  I will see you on Monday.

Hugs,

All lovely. I like the rolling mountains, the elk and the sunshine on the beach. The best time for photography.

Very pretty pictures! It would be hard to choose a favorite but what a special blessing to have snow to go along with your Christmas decorations! Have a great weekend.

Betsy,
Just love your home. So pretty with the Christmas lights and also knowing that roses will bloom in the spring. Just beautiful. My home is similar but no lights or roses maybe after retirement. Have a wonderful day!

Betsy, I have loved and enjoyed your Best of...2010 series. These shots are just as stunning. Love the Elk and the sun on the beach. As Diane says, the best time and softest light of the day: excellent for photos. Have a great weekend. Blessings and (((hugs))) Jo

I'd say trying to select a few shots and call them the best is a really tough job - I'd have to pick nearly all of yours.

You really took me home this morning! I feel as if I've been "in the picture" of your first three favorites. I read something a few months ago about the restaurant at the Peaks of Otter not renewing it's lease and they were looking for another restaurant group to come in. There was speculation that it would close (temporarily?) if a group couldn't be found. I hope that all got worked out. Love viewing the Peaks from the restaurant.

Best,
Bonnie

It's hard to pick a favorite from all of those. However, the 3rd picture down is really nice. I've always like pictures like that where it shows different layers of mountains....mountains behind mountains.

Hi, Betsy~
Such beautiful pictures!!
I love riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The views are just incredible!
I have climbed to the top of the Peaks of Otter (Sharp Top and Flat Top) and the view is breathtaking to say the least!!
What a great picture of the Elk too!
Your Christmas decorations were so pretty, especially with the snow!
I hope you have a great weekend. :)

This is a beautiful series of photos, Betsy. Hubby and I are going to have to take that Blue Ridge Parkway drive one of these days. The elk are spreading out from Cataloochee Valley. We have seen some at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center. Maybe, some day, they'll be visible throughout the national park.

Rolling mountains always are a pleasure to see.
I LOVE the shot from the ocean! The light you captured is beautiful! This one is certainly wonderful to look back on on a winter day.
Your Christmas picture should be next year's Christmas card! :)

Hi Betsy, gosh it would be hard to choose a favorite from this group. I really love clouds and wide open spaces. The lighting in the beach photo is wonderful. Your home is so lovely with the lights and snow. Hmmm. I think I'll have to go with the beach scene, it looks so inviting to this ole gal who has been looking at snow for too long. They are all beautiful photos, I just like to choose a fav from each group for some reason. It's always tough to do, I like them all. Have a great weekend!

Being an animal person that elk blew me away. I have only seen a few and they are just beautiful creatures. So large and regal.
My favorite heirloom is an antique set of elk horns supporting a dinner gong. My family hated them, I loved them and they are in my living room. No siblings fought me for them.

Lynda said...

I really like the one of the mountain ranges on Skyline Drive. The others are great, too.
