Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

Stonewall Falls, Tiger, GA

As both George and I have mentioned,  when we travel,  we usually try to break up the trip by visiting some waterfalls along the way, both going and coming.  In December,  on our way to Ocean Isle Beach,  we stopped at Tiger, GA (Near Clayton) to visit a little waterfall named  STONEWALL FALLS.

We drove back into the woods and then took a short hike in order to see this little waterfall. Above is our first view of Stonewall Falls.  Below are more.

Here is another picture showing the falls surrounded by Rhododendron.

This is a small cascade near Stonewall Falls... We named it Stonewall Creek Cascades.  This was such a beautiful hiking area.

My favorite part of this hike was seeing the gorgeous Rhododendrons in that area.  The trail followed the creek --and the hike itself was worth taking.

I loved looking up at the sky and the pine trees ---while we were at Stonewall Falls.

I had to get a picture of the best reason to be at Stonewall Falls on a beautiful December day...  Here he is!!!

Here is one final picture of a beautiful little waterfall in Georgia.   I could have sat there and listened to the sound of the falls and looked at those Rhododendrons forever!!!!!  BUT--we had to get on the road --since the beach was also calling our names!!!!

Several have asked how we find waterfalls WAY back in the woods like we do... WELL--there are lots of waterfall books (usually by the state or area) with tons of information including directions on how to get there.  AND--we also have the internet which also gives alot of info.  If you were to google  "Stonewall Falls, GA"  --you would find lots of information.  Apparently there is a great mountain biking trail nearby...

Hugs,

Good Morning Betsy, Such a scenic area. Looks like you had a pretty day to visit these falls; the sky is so blue! Don't you know the rhododendrons will be pretty in Spring? Thanks for sharing your photos with us. Have a great day!

Now you need to go back there when the Rhododendrons are in bloom. Must be a gorgeous site.

I loved just looking at all the green -Even just a month without it makes me miss it! After our zero temps on Monday it was 37 yesterday and of course rained all day making quite the mess. Zach said - yes finally it is over - I looked at him and told him- no ... the temp is supposed to drop tonight and we are to get another inch or so of snow by morning.

The look on his face said it all.
He is 17 and ready to move south!

Beautiful images of a beautiful waterfall, Betsy. I agree with the others, that you need to return when the rhododendrons are in bloom and then post more pictures. :)

You guys surely do love waterfalls if you even stop and visit them in the middle of winter.
Speaking of winter....5 inches are headed this way ....good grief :(

Fantastic photos of the waterfalls! I love waterfalls - but have never taken the time to photograph the ones I have seen. Oh, maybe one or two here and there - but nothing like you have done. They are beautiful. Thanks for sharing them. I liked your photo of the real reason you were there in December! ☺

I'm not for certain, but I think those were the first falls I had ever seen. I know it was in Tiger, GA. We had to hike from the place where we were staying. It was so wonderful to see a waterfall for the first time!

You'll have to go back to this waterfall when the rhododendrons are in bloom. The view would be even more beautiful! Nice picture of George with the waterfall in the background.

So interesting to see all the waterfalls you visit! And, of course, it's much more fun together. No snow and the rhododendrons are greens - wow! I'd love to spend some some time there too!

It's off to work I go!

Love the falls! I'll have to come back later and take a closer look. Heading out the door soon for groceries ahead of the big snow we're expecting. Hope it doesn't come your way. Have a good day, Betsy!

It is so neat how you break up you trip and find such lovely places to stretch your legs which is smart on a long trip.
That sure beats a few trips around a crowded comercial rest stop off the freeways.

I've just been catching up. What a beautiful place. I love the sound that falling water makes.....I can hear it from here;)

Hi Betsy, What a pretty location! I will put that on the Georgia places to see list. We have had a little frozen rain this morning already - predictions for 1-2" of snow accumulation tonight. Have a great day & keep posting the super waterfall pictures - I love 'em!

What a beautiful place! Hiking is no longer on my list of "do-able" things, and since I love waterfalls, I thank you for sharing your wonderful photos!

Too funny lol, there I was reading down this thinking "how do they even know about all these waterfalls?" and lo and behold you answer my question!! This is a very pretty waterfall.

I have a post I think you will love today, check it out!

Everytime I see your lovely waterfall pictures that song pops into my head, 'Don't go chasing waterfalls', haha!
I think you and George could find a waterfall on the moon :)

Betsy, I can "hear" the water toppling over the falls in your photos. They are so real and beautiful. Believe it or not, when Grant and I went camping over New Year (and were washed out) the brochure of the place we were at said there were SEVEN waterfalls in the area. Of course, having made a mad dash to warmer accommadation (in the silos) we never had a chance to even LOOK for them. We want to go back and check. And get good photos - ha! Have a wonderful day, my beautiful friend. And please never ever stop blogging. No matter what a nagging and negative reader may say. The rest of us LOVE you and love your blog, Keep on keeping on. Blessings. Jo

It looks like a lovely place to go to just to think. Wish I could do that. I'm begining to get cabin fever here,I think.
Your sidebar is wonderful. Look at all the pictures of you and your family. And the birds are there too. Love it....

It's the hiking that would get me!
Back in the woods though must make it feel like it's just the two of you and the beauty of nature.
I agree with the comment that it would be beautiful to see the rhododendron in bloom.

Betsy, you and George are so blessed to see so much beauty, and you do a wonderful job of sharing the joy!

Thanks for your comments. I'm doing better now, but the flu isn't something I want again! I'm really behind on blog reading and commenting, and I'll probably get more behind. Next week we'll be going to stay with our grands, so I'll be extra busy!

Hey Lady,
I have just a few minutes because school work is calling my name but I wanted to check in with you :)
I love the photos but you know what i love most of all? The way you speak of George...I can tell you truly adore him and it's just nice to hear! I too, love and adore my Scott so when I hear women complain, complain complain about their husbands, it just infuriates me...
anyway, that was my thought that I wanted to share with you!
I also think you could get a puzzle made of your photos...wouldn't that be cool?

Hi Betsy:
This is one of the prettier waterfalls, you can even see the bottom of the falls.
There are some beautiful hiking trails around our states, I'd say you and George have hiked on most of them ;)
Had an MRI finally, a torn meniscus, I'm in therapy, not sure if I'm undergoing surgery at this point.
Sorry to have missed you lately, I've been working longer hours.
Hugs,
Jo

Betsy, you and George do find some of the most beautiful waterfalls in your travels. I remember Tiger but not the falls, but then that was many years ago I was in that area.

Catching up from last night, I lost my internet connection for most of the evening.

Always beautiful waterfalls to be found in your blog :-) Feels like summer in these photos.

What amused me about this lovely waterfalls is that you could snap photos without any intrusions. Over here, our waterfalls are always crowded with people and we never seem to be able to snap any photos without them. I would love to swim in your waterfall, so chilling!
