Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

A Night Snow

I've seen many bloggers' snow pictures recently --but don't think I have seen many taken or shown at night. On Tuesday evening, Feb. 9, about 9 p.m., we had the nicest little snow here. It was one of those snows that I truly love ---one that clings to everything, is wet and has BIG flakes. I was SO excited!!!!!

I couldn't wait to wake up the next morning and see that beautiful snow...... BUT----guess what???? The rains came during the night and the snow was mostly all gone by the morning. Sigh!!!!!

Glad we took a few night photos... Here they are for you. Above was one taken of our front yard as we stood on the front porch. More are below.

Here's a picture of one of our Holly bushes in the front yard.

The umbrella on our deck was collecting snow... Like I said, this was a snow which was clinging to everything!!!!

Look at the snow as it collects on our swing on the deck. It looks like a piece of cotton, doesn't it????

I love this picture looking from the deck out into the backyard. Isn't the Rhododendron just beautiful????

The snow was clinging to the trees in the backyard.

Here's a close-up of the top of our large Rhododendron. The snow was so pretty clinging to it.

Here's one more picture of part of the Rhododendron next to our deck.

Finally, here's one more picture of the front yard. It was such a pretty snow! Too bad it didn't last.... You missed me making a snow angel JUST for you... What a shame!!!!!!! har har har

Even though I love snow, I need to send a blog {{{{{{HUG}}}}} to all of my friends who are suffering due to having TOO much snow in their areas of the country. I also need to invite ALL of you to move to the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee since we truly do not get much snow here. (Hope I don't have to eat my words for saying this!!!! ha)

Hugs,

Betsy - although that is the prettiest snow, it is also the very heaviest snow to have to shovel and it clogs up the snow blower! :)

I truly love when it clings to everything except when it is a shovel that I have to pick up!

Have an great day!

Hi Betsy! We got it too!
It has flurried every day this week. Just enough for Annie to run around and try to figure out what the heck that stuff is!
Stay warm and cuddly...
Happy Valentines Day!

I really really loved the snow pictures but if I move again it will be to a place that gets lots and lots of snow. LOL

I did post one early in the morning. It was still dark out. But none in the dead of night. You did a good job on these night pictures.

Oh Betsy, I'd have thought you'd say, "Uncle" by now.

Great pictures! They say we may get some snow today and inch or less. What a winter we have all had! I can take the snow but PLEASE no more rain!

Nice Betsy...your photos are special. The snow won't hurt your treasured plants as long as the temps don't drop below freezing.....good luck and have a wonderful Valentines Day with your George, come Sunday.
God Bless

And here in the far north of New York state the ground is almost bare! Go figure!

I like your night pictures, Betsy. Very pretty and peaceful there. I really like the one of the swing where the snow looks like cotton. :)

Good Morning, Betsy,
Those are good pictures of your pretty snow. Too bad the rain washed it away. It is snowing in South MS and they have a few inches on the ground, but no snow where we live in the north part of the state:-( I would like to drive south and at least get to SEE it.

Arkansas Patti said...

How nice you got such good pictures before the rain took away the snow.
We had that wet snow and it is still here. It was super for snow balls.
I know those who are sick of the snow farther north think we are nuts. Sorry people, it is still a novelty for us.

That snow looks awfully wet. but as you said it did turn to rain and was almost gone by morning.
I like the last pic the best I think. Big fat flakes--looks so pretty.
I am ready for Spring. MB

WOW...what big flakes!
Glad you are enjoying your rare snow.
I feel bad too for the folks south of us that are getting such huge snow this winter...that is normal for us in the U.P. of Michigan, but not for all of you and Texas!

Look at the size of those flakes!

You sure are getting your share of snow this winter. I'm with you, not much prettier than the goose feather sized flakes falling at night.

Hi Betsy, Now and then I get a good night shot but mostly they're just...black. These are great. Now you can make a snowman!

When I was watching the forecast on the evening news, I turned to the First Sergeant and said " Betsy and George will be getting snow tonight."
You did !
None here, although maybe more in the days to come. It's so lovely to be able to stay at home and enjoy, and we have had our share of the white stuff this winter.
Stay warm !

I have to say... I've had my fill of snow event this winter! It's pouring down outside right now. Thank goodness we are all home for the weekend and there is plenty of food and warmth!

I think you're right, I don't remember seeing many night snow shots! I especially like that last one - I like the effect of the light on the falling snow! Very cool, Betsy!

Ginny Hartzler said...

Your new camera has done a wonderful job of capturing the black night sky and the white snow! You can really see how big the flakes are, as well. How funny that it's clinging to the back of the swing instead of just the seat!

I am ready for warmer weather. We still have all that snow and it refuses to go away.

That's a different perspective!!! I totally enjoyed those photos - like I do my daily visits here! I'm visiting with our daughter and family in sunny, southern Alberta. Had a safe drive! Their snow is melting and the kids are loving it outside! It's 2+!

Have a wonderful Valentine's day! Blessings,

Love your night pics of snow. I use to sit & watch it snow at night when I lived in N.J. It's so peaceful at that time.
Wish I could have seen you make a snow angel. Bet it was cute. lol

Hi Betsy,

I like this kind of snow too, because we NEED moisture here and you're right, it's the prettiest. I came out one day last week and it looked like wonderland here.

Stay warm and thank goodness it's the weekend.

What pretty pics! You're right, I don't see night time snow photos. I too get excited about a wet snow that clings to everything. I looks wonderful.

Aww, too bad about the snow angel. Why don't you make us another one. LOL!

You got some great night time shots! I've never thought to do that either! Our snow is still stuck on everything!

SquirrelQueen said...

It is really pretty but it is also the wet kind which is really heavy to shovel. Maybe it's best it melted away.

I'm looking at your weather on your sidebar and it looks like you have more coming in on Sunday.

Have a great weekend.
