Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

Birdies ask: "Is it Snowing AGAIN?"

We got about 2 more inches of snow since returning home from our trip on Monday afternoon. That makes our total here about 8 inches ---which is ALOT of snow for us.. Remember--I just recently said that WE don't get much snow here... (Guess I shouldn't have said that, huh???? ha ha)

Anyhow--the birds have been flocking to the feeders. I have had to refill them ALOT since getting home. I'm not sure how many birds we have had but I'll bet we've had about 100 different birds total (with at least 50 of them being Goldfinches)... The birds really EAT in this kind of weather. I'm glad I am here to help!!!!

Here are some pictures of the birds in the snow and of the snow itself. The bird pictures were taken yesterday and the snow pictures were taken on Monday. Above is a male Cardinal sitting on one of my plant hangers---waiting on a turn at the feeders. I have some cute close-ups of him, but wanted to show you the snow today. Below are more.

See that sweet little Chickadee sitting up in a tree---also waiting for a turn at the feeders??

This picture made me laugh... Poor little Carolina Wren (who looked like Santa Claus, with bushy white eyebrows and a white beard) was sitting on his perch... Do you know what that perch is?????? Look at it again. It's a Rhododendron Bud.... Isn't this a cute picture????

George took this great picture of our pink Dogwood tree filled with snow. Can you see the dogwood buds????

I took this picture along the front of the house --toward our Confederate Jasmine bush.

This final picture is neat to me because the snow has formed lots of FINGERS and HANDS on the evergreen tree... Can you see them????

Hope the worst of WINTER is almost over for all of us!!!!!

Hugs,

Great captures Betsy! Don't you think that cardinals were made for snow? I just love to see their bright red color against the pure unstained snow.

Boy you really have gotten socked with snow this year. I am so glad to see you making the most of it, sharing your visions of loveliness with us!

Well, I do recall someone praying for snow... hehehe. :c) We got the snow on Friday and then flurries all day yesterday, but no accumulation. Lots of black ice on Monday with a flash freeze during morning rush and so many bad accidents.

I am ready for spring now... officially.

My goodness you are getting lots of snow all over the northern hemisphere. You will all turn into polar bears soon. We had our first cooler day today 28C. The humidity has been extremely high this last wek 98%. and we have been having tropical downpours.Parts of Brisbane got flooded. The garden has turned into a jungle.I love the red cardinal in the white background.

Really cute pictures Betsy. I am so envious of your snow, ours has all melted now.
Love those wet, clingy snows and you are right, the birds will eat you out of house and home. It feels good to be able to help.

Wonderful pictures, Betsy! I really love the one of the Carolina wren with his little turned-up tail---adorable. And, yes, I do see the snowy hands (the icy grip of winter--ha,ha!).

Looks like your praying for snow really paid off! But could you please pray for spring now? Please? :-)

Betsy, God answered your prayers and gave you what you wanted in abundance. Your photos of the snow and birds are gorgeous, I do miss not seeing it.
So just like the birds appreciate your birdseed I appreciate you sharing the wonderful views of your Tennessee winter.

The cardinal sure does stand out. I'm getting them by the flock at my feeder this year and they sure are pretty. At the rate you're going, you may not have to change your title photo from a snow shot til April - perish the thought.

I really, really, really like the cardinal in the snow. his pretty little red self just glows in all the black and white of the snow and trees. great shot on that one.

These are wonderful photos (even though I'm not a fan of snow) - and the birds in the snow look cold but beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing some shots of that dogwood tree with blossoms on it!

Wonderful shots Betsy. I love the shot of the Wren. Love those white eyebrows. We usually don't get tons of snow here but we have had a total of 16 inches so far this winter. Kinda hoping this is it for the season. Enjoy your snow. =) Soon we will be complaining about the heat.

That last picture is great...love that you can see the 'hands' at work here.
Enjoy your snow...you asked for it!

Oh, those cardinals! I never get over their brilliant color. And the Carolina Wren must be the tiniest little creature, what a sweetie. Chickadees we have around here but that makes them no less the cute little clowns. I love them all. Nice shots, Betsy.

The cardinal, wren, and chickadee, wow! Where do I start? That cardinal looks like he's standing in front of the picture, he pops out so much. But the wren is maybe my favorite bird picture of yours that I've ever seen. It's priceless in every way! Just makes you laugh. I would have noticed the "fingers" without prompting! They are ghostly fingers and I'm sure Stephen King could do a number on them! Fabulous shots. My son's Farmer's Almanac says another three feet in March. Normally, we pay no heed to it, but so far this year, it's been right about everything!!

Sounds like your snow is going to be around for a while. We still have huge piles along the roadsides but most is gone off the grass area's. Thanks for your prayers. Marilyn

Great snow photos Betsy! I love your little wren - he looks like he's pouting! So cute!! I'm hoping the worst of winter is over too! Now that the weather is warming up - maybe you and George will want to visit some waterfalls in northern Michigan? And stop by some girl's cabin that I know....I hear she's really nice! And makes a great Rigatoni!! wink, wink!
Hugs,

Hello Betsy!

As I am visiting Mary at "Daisy Bouquet" I always read your very sweet comments to her. I had to drop in for a visit and I am so happy I did!:o)

What lovely blog you have here. Your photos are beautiful! The only time I get to see snow is when we visit the mountains here in southern California. I love all the snow photos around blogland and image just how wonderful it must be to wake up and see all that beautiful snow!:o)

I will most certainly be back for another visit soon. Take care.

I think that wren is expressing my feelings about this winter! Enough is enough! Great shots!

I think you have received some of the snow that we were to get here yesterday but didn't! We only got a dusting and 3-6 inches were called for. We actually have bare ground! I love the photo of the cardinal waiting his turn at the feeders. You are so very lucky to have so many birds. I haven't had many here this winter and tonight on the news it was mentioned that the birds are "getting what they need" in the wild so I am relieved that that is the answer, not that they have disappeared or been driven off by hawks. I haven't seen the bluebirds yet but keep hoping. I love the fingers on the trees. The snow is very pretty. Enjoy!

Lord, please hurry and bring on the warm, sunny days. Looks like nature snowed all over the country this year.

Janice K said...

Betsy, you asked for snow, and God obviously heard you...We keep adding to our up here a little each day.

I love the picture of the Carolina Wren. She seems to have her nose/beak up on the air as if to say, "Can't you do something about this? I've had about enough of this snow business too."

And the first picture with that bright blotch of red is really neat too. I haven't seen many cardinals this winter, but maybe I just haven't had the time to look for them when they are here. We have been so busy. I have taken some pictures but haven't had time to do anything with them.

Thanks for brightening my day!..Janice

Wow that bird is red! And yes, the wren is adorable. A little extra fat certainly does go a long way when it's cold outside!

You have had so much snow this year, amazing and beautiful. The little birds are so cute but they look cold. I love the shot of the Carolina Wren.
