Welcome to JOYFUL REFLECTIONS. Also welcome to MARCH!!!! My header picture this month is a photo I took of the pretty Crocus blooms in our yard... The Crocuses and Daffodils are the first signs of spring here in Tennessee. I am definitely ready for SPRING...

New Waterfalls in North Georgia

On our trip to Florida last week, George and I stopped along the way (both going and coming) to check out some new waterfalls. Today I'll share five of them with you ---all in the North Georgia area not too far from Dahlonega. My new header and the picture above were both taken at my favorite waterfall from this particular trip. This waterfall is named Middle Desoto Falls and is found at the Desoto Falls Recreation Area, north of Turner's Corner. Below are more pictures of the waterfalls we saw last week.

This is Trahlyta Falls (found near Vogel State Park).

This is not a good picture---but was the best we could get from the road-side. This is the Lower Falls on Waters Creek (near Turner's Corner). This waterfall is now on private property---and there was no way to get across the creek to get a better view from the overlook on the other side. It was VERY obvious that the new owners of that property do NOT want anyone crossing their bridge to see the waterfall. SO---we just got the best picture we could get!

This is a gorgeous waterfall also on Waters Creek (just down the road). Its name is the Falls on Waters Creek. This is a popular swimming area for the 'locals' in the summer.

Here is another view (from the road) of the Falls on Waters Creek. We drove farther into the woods searching for more waterfalls. I'll let George talk about this situation (he has a picture to share) on his blog. SO ---be sure and check out his blog today!!! Click HERE.

Here is the Middle Desoto Falls. This waterfall was back in the woods and we enjoyed the short hike in that beautiful area. As I said, this one was my favorite waterfall from the entire trip.

George now stands on the little overlook enjoying Middle Falls.

Red-faced and sweaty (from hiking in the summer heat), I still really loved being at this waterfall. All of the Rhododendrons and Mountain Laurels around were gorgeous.

This last waterfall is named Lower Desoto Falls. It is not nearly as impressive as Middle Falls ---but it was still pretty. We did not hike to Upper Falls because it was a longer hike and we were running out of daylight.

We saw a very interesting waterfall on the way home---but I'll feature that one in another blog.

Have a great Monday!
Hugs,

Some of the water looks almost lacey and delicate - not anything that could carve solid rock!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and checking in. Looks like you have been having a great summer.
My summer has been very busy. My Mom has been sick, kidney infection, low sodium, pace maker replacement. I have been staying with her most of the time since the first of July. Then our cat got sick (and died Aug. 5) my daughter got sick and spent 24 hours in the hospital getting her diabetes back under control. She is fine now.I hope things are getting better now.Good to hear from you. Genealogy has been put on hold.

My favorite is Middle Desoto Falls. It reminds me of giant logs in a fireplace, but instead of fire, it's water, much more refreshing!

More childhood memories have been awaken. I remember many visits to Desoto Falls and Vogel State Park. In fact Vogel was one of my dad's favorite places.

Beautiful photos of the falls. When you return maybe you will have time to see Upper Desoto Falls.

Thanks for the memories,
Judy

Hi Betsy,
I'm taking notes here about these waterfalls for next time we are up in that area... they are really pretty and it's nice to know someone has been there and approves.

I've caught up on your traveling, lady. You guys are quite the gad-abouts... the mountains and then Florida. I did mention to you before that August is our hottest month. You must come back in say December or January when our weather is like your spring probably is... it must have been very hot at Ormond Beach. But I can see you had a great time. Happy Birthday to you btw. That moon last week was awe-inspiring... I should have known it was for someone very special!

You were not too far from me... almost straight across the state on the other coast. Yes, you must fit in a detour here somehow... I'd love to show you around.

George looks like you added him to the Middle Falls photo.

The falls that you said was a popular swimming location looks like the falls at the Methodist Camp Gleason, close to Dahlonega. I almost drown there as a child. Never told my Mother until last year.

Love your new header. Glad you are home safely.
