A Sponge Bath

Hey Lady...You know me by now, don't you???? I'm Bucky Brown Thrasher---and I come to your feeders all of the time. I know that most of my 'kind' don't come to backyard feeders... BUT--me and my friend Bubba LOVE your suet. SO there!!!!! As long as you feed us, we'll COME!!!

Hmmmmm... What is this???? Water???? Looks kinda shallow... I'll bet that old woman put this here for those pecky little birds....

Well---maybe I can cool off on this hot afternoon... Think it will feel good?????? Oh My---what is a birdie to do???? I can't help myself!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh---that feels SO good on my tootsies.

Wonder if I can squat and feel that cool water on some other 'parts'???? Wish that old lady would quit looking at me.

Oh Myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy---this is wonderful but why is it so darn shallow?

That feels a little better... But I can't cool off my 'upper' parts... DARN!!!!

Gee---this feels good enough to just stay here for awhile and just veg out... Did I mention that it's doggone hot outside today? Hey--don't laugh---even birdies get HOT...

Okay Lady.... since I can't get ALL of me wet, I will just leave and go to that bigger bath in the backyard. I still don't understand why she doesn't have a deeper bird bath right here on the deck... Darn her!!!!!! (Sigh!)

Hope you enjoyed watching Bucky thoroughly entertain me... It doesn't take much, you know!!!!! ha

Hugs,

Loved that series. Who has more fun bathing than birds. They really get into it. Makes me feel like a slacker when I just lay there and soak.

Love it! What a great series of photos! Even a saucer of water serves a purpose. Right now, the nasty grackles are hogging my bird bath and making it necessary to clean and refill it several times daily. I say the grackles are nasty because they're using the bath as their private privy, as well, a convenient place to rid themselves of the seeds from the wild cherry tree they are feasting upon.

That's a gorgeous, gorgeous rose in your banner!!

Gooodness don't you just love em?!?!? One of our baby bluebirds has decided to homestead on our patio. Bless his little heart. I saw momma feeding him under our patio table this a.m.

Can't a birdie just get a little privacy around here??? Oh, these shots amused me! Absolutely adorable!!! Thanks for the chuckle, Betsy. Be back to read about your Dillard House Anniversary Dinner!

Hi Betsy;) I love birds and watching them at their different activities. Not least, bathing. This was a most entertaining post. I love your blog and will visit often. Regards from a wintry South Africa.

Hi again, Betsy, I've just been reading through your blog. I was away in the middle of the month (my husband is home from the Sudan where he works for three months at a time) and I saw that you met a fellow blogger. I also met up with a fellow blogger from Tanzania in the middle of May. Amazing things these blogs. I LOVE them and the people we get to know. Thanks for a really interesting blog.

Oh, how sweet!! Bucky will go tell everyone..well, I should say those he wants to take a bath with..hehehe

Thanks for visiting me for Pink Saturday...yes, that hot pink kitchen would need only indirect light to even walk into it without being shocked..LOL I think that photo was from France.

Tell me what kind of digital camera you use, PLEASE!! My dad told me the other night he is going to bring me the Nikon 35mm with all the zoom and wide angle lenses to me...I just about fainted....he used that camera during his PI days! :0) I guess he kept hearing me say I needed another camera to catch these great wildlife visitors. But I would like a better digital camera too.

Have a great weekend,
Stephanie

I agree with Kelly! You are lucky to have a thrasher hanging around and comfortable enough to splatter while you're present! Enjoyed the views and the dialog.

Mary said...

Funny.....love to watch birds in the bath (does that make me a voyeur?) Great shots!

mothernaturesgarden said...

Our thrasher never comes to the feeder. Suet, huh?
I think birds actually like the shallow water. We have Carolina wrens that bathe in the water on the deck rail when it rains.
