We Love Mt. Nebo

Is there some place that you enjoy returning to, over and over???? We have a place like that--and it's Mt. Nebo State Park near Dardanelle, Arkansas. This next week will be the FIFTH time since 2006 that we have been back to our little cabin (Cabin 60) sitting on the top of a mountain. We just cannot stay away from that gorgeous place. It is just MADE for us. Here are some of the reasons!!!! Above you can see the mountain from below---looking toward our cabin!!! Below are five more reasons we keep going back.

This is our adorable, rustic cabin looking toward the front. The cabin is really not rustic though, since we have a jacuzzi tub and all of the modern conveniences. It is a small romantic cabin with only one bedroom, a living/dining area with fireplace, full bath and kitchen. There is a fabulous back porch, with concrete deck, picnic table, and grill. The view from the porch looking down into the valley is incredible.

Here is another view of the cabin--from the side. If you look to the left, you can 'almost' see the view down into the valley below. We feel as if this is the best cabin on the mountain--and we ask for Cabin 60 everytime we go!

We always choose to go to Mt. Nebo in the winter---because the cabin has as fabulous wood-burning fireplace. Life can't get much better than sitting beside the fireplace drinking a cup of hot cocoa!!!!!

Mt. Nebo has a Sunrise Point and a Sunset Point. There are even benches where you can sit and relax and ENJOY it.. This is a sunrise photo taken from Sunrise Point when we were there this past December. Look closely at the picture and you can see the Arkansas River to the left.

This picture was taken last year at this time when we went. The best thing about going in February or March is that we can see the sunset (above) from our cabin --and we don't have to go to Sunset Point (like we do when we go in Nov/Dec). Imagine seeing this from your back porch... WOW!!!!!

Tell me about some of your favorite places --where you go over and over.
Hugs,

P.S. If anyone is interested in my UPDATE about my bird situation from the last post, I added a comment in the comment section that you may be interested in reading. Thanks for your help!!!

What a beautiful place! I can understand why you return each year.I would love to spend every minute on our old farm in Franklin, NC. Love getting up to watch the sunrise and just listen to all the wonderful sounds coming from the mountain woods.

WOW! You are up early in the morning. The photos are fantastic and the cabin is the place that I would like to be. On top of a mountain with a sunset and a sunrise, that is the place to be. The fire-place puts the icing on the cake,as they say. . . . . . What is the temperature this morning where you are? For me here in UpstateNY,west of Albany,NY it is 41.5 degrees.

That looks like a fabulous place! I love your photos.

If my car didn't have a gazillion miles on it, I would be going back and forth to Guntersville, Alabama as often as possible. Love love that place and the area all around it. Used to live in Huntsville. I miss north Alabama!

I used to have several favorite spots when I stil lived in the foothills, but haven't quite found a place here that speaks to me the way the Rockies do!

No wonder you go back there! It is beautiful...I think when I first started visiting you and George that you were posting pictures from here.

The cabin and its location look like a little slice of Heaven! Enjoy your visit.

Hi Betsy,
What a wonderful cabin and mountain you've found in Arkansas. Like you, I LOVE to sit by a fire with a cup of hot coffee (for me- cocoa for you). Enjoy your time away and get plenty of rest in along with hikes and waterfalls.

We have returned to the same little house on Longboat Key Beach for about 17 years. We used to go twice a year. Not recently though. It is very "OLD Florida" and there is no better beach on the Gulf Coast. IMHO. :-)

That is such a beautiful place. I love your cabin. My favorite place to travel is Toronto Canada. My parents took me there many times when I was young and I continued the tradtion with my family.

You're as adorable as that cabin! How romantic and wonderful.

Sorry but I don't have any bird feeding advice to give. My life has been overtaken with my crazy parrot! Her tastes change weekly!

Love the pictures Betsy. I can see why this is a favorite place for you both. I would love it also. So cute.
WE enjoy going to N.C. and staying at a place called Bear Lake Reserve. We own a piece of land there and hope to one day build a home for retirement. **fingers crossed, darn economy** But we go one or 2 times a year and rent a friends house. This is where we were for new years...remember all my fun pics???
Happy Saturday.

Wonderful, beautiful photos, Betsy.

I see that a long (pre-sunrise/post-sunset)day-trip to Mt. Nebo is in order. I may have to plan a family outing.

Have a great time. Happy Anniversary!

Being able to watch the sun come up and go down, have a cozy fireplace, a well equipped bathroom and your own bed, what more could you ask for? A cook maybe? Looks like a great place.

I had to look up the location. It's not too far from areas we hiked when we lived in north Louisiana years ago.
What great sunsets, and the cabin looks so snug. I can see why you love the place. Have lots of fun!

What a wonderful place. NO wonder it's one of your favorites.

We love to go to N MN, to Lake Vermillion. We went twice last summer, but will only make it once this year--we have a family wedding early in the summer and some other commitments.

We stay in the same cabin, and we can take out dogs! I wish we could have "our own" cabin, and go more often. Maybe when we retire......

Betsy,

Mt. Nebo looks absolutely beautiful! The mountains are just my idea of heaven on earth! I'll take the mountains over the ocean any day! Your cabin looks so cozy and I love the photo of you snuggling by the fire! I love how you and Mr. George just take off and go on these excursions and enjoy yourself! One day...that's what I can see Jason and me doing! :)

By the way, I also love to go to Mountain View, Arkansas. We have been there many times and go to Blanchard Springs. We may be going in a couple of weeks, as a matter of fact!

Have a great Saturday evening, Betsy!

Hugs,
Tammy

What a lovely place, Betsy! I can see why you love it so. My favorite place (as you know from reading my post) is Craggy Gardens. I always feel the presence of my Mama there---she was always so happy hiking its many trails.

I'm all for the getaway no matter where. I particularly like the beach. I love to go for walks on the beach in the morning and evening when it is pleasant. And, seafood is great!
As for the birds, when you come back with seed, they will return. No problem.
